External link: MASUM highlights torture in West Bengal

Banglar Manabadhikar Suraksha Mancha (MASUM) in its 2018 Annual Report highlighted human rights violations in West Bengal. MASUM had lodged 184 complaints in 2018 with the National Human Rights Commission on almost eighteen different types of cases of human rights violations including 16% cases of torture perpetrated by the BSF personnel and 10% cases of torture perpetrated by the West Bengal Police personnel apart from roping and handcuffing of the under-trial prisoners.  Read the full report
